Welcome Back Flytoyz Fans! The Automotive Corner Is Back!

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Ok After a small hiatus VizX is here and im bringin you The Automotive Corner! Ok so what im talking about today is something ive gone over twice already, but I keep coming back because the envelop keeps getting pushed farther and farther!!

The Infamous Nurburgring in Germany has seen a few supercars as of late. “Godzilla” a.k.a. The Nissan GTR set the standard with a new world record, then the guys at Chevrolet we like, nah I dont think so… So they took their beastly new Corvette ZR-1 around the ring and that had beaten Godzilla’s time. This record time had stood for a little while now, and then the guys at Dodge felt they needed to beat it for automotive supremacy and they did!! They beat the ZR-1 by around 3-4 seconds! The Car? Viper ACR, makes sense to me! Hell that new European company Cerberus is killing the Viper in a few years, why not break some records before we say goodbye to one of the hottest exotic-american cars ever made?

I also found the video of the viper on its run, its the in car camera and you can just head all 10 cylinders banging the rev limiter and see the shifter bounce around like no tomorrow from it also! I hope you enjoy it! I know I sure did!

and if you would like to see how the ACR Viper did compared to the ZR-1 ‘Vette.. I found this on the tube also that someone else made and put them together, awesome job btw!

Well thats it for the automotive Corner! I hope you enjoyed it as this is how they new style is for the ‘Corner, short and sweet with all the info you want and crave to be IN THE KNOW! Coming Up this Week Is the Debut Of A New Once A Month Segment Launching On the 3rd(Weds) and The Mod Shop Is Back This Thursday!

Have a Fun and Safe Holiday!

VizX’s Automotive Corner 1st edition: Wall St.’s Take On Dodge, A Word On The Cancellation Of The SRT Viper Along With The Possible Fall Of The Dodge Brand.

24/7 Wall St.’s Take on Dodge
“Dodge is part of the Chrysler company which was recently bought out by private equity firm Cerberus. Chrysler management has already said that the company has too many brands and too many dealers. Dodge vehicles will probably be re-branded as Chrysler and Dodge will go the way of the Dodo.” – Source

So what does this leave for the JEEP brand? I personally cannot see a Chrysler Ram on the road, or a Chrysler Challenger due to the fact that these models are synonymous with the Dodge name!! They Think Chrysler has alot of brands? Maybe they should look to their competitors like General Motors(13 including euro) or Ford Motor Company(6 global).

“According to Jalopnik, Chrysler was planning to cut more models in addition to the PT Cruiser Convertible, Pacifica, Crossfire and Magnum. Jalopnik is reporting that, according to several of its sources, the decision has already been made that the Dodge Viper SRT10 will be CANCELLED. The decision was reportedly made after Cerberus took control of Chrysler and was not part of the automaker’s future product plans prior to its split with Daimler.

While the current 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 just received an update for 2008 that includes a new version of its iconic V10 engine capable of producing 600 horsepower and a track ready ACR model, it was only ever meant to be on the market for another two years until the fully redesigned next-gen Viper bowed. Since that’s reportedly not going to happen, the Viper will reportedly be sold as is through the 2011 model year.

The Viper has never been a cheap car to build, being assembled by hand at the automaker’s Connor Avenue Assembly Plant. The obvious argument for killing the halo car is that money spent on developing the next-generation Viper could go towards better interiors and more appealing designs for bread and butter models, the sales of which keep the lights on at the company’s Auburn Hills, MI headquarters. The Viper, however, has always been more than just a halo car for Chrysler, it’s been a symbol of what the company can do when it’s firing on all cylinders. If this report is true, to see it canceled indicates just how lean these times really are for Chrysler under its new management.” – Source

I myself think they need to make less vipers, maybe like 300 a year and thats it, make it a hot commodity for people to have and not kill it off completely. Cerberus, I really hope you know what your doing to what currently is an a Great All American brand!
