A Sad Day For Lexus SC Owners… Toyota is making change’s, This is The Automotive Corner!

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Hello readers and welcome to The Automotive Corner! Today As the title say’s today is a sad day for lexus SC owners. Reason? Toyota has canceled the next-generation Lexus SC coupe/convertible due to poor sales, and may shelve the planned replacement for the Toyota Avalon sedan!(current pictured)

The SC has been a slow seller for the Lexus brand, Myself personally think that the last attractive SC was:

This generation has lots of room for modification especially if you get a SC300 due to a 2JZ supra motor under the hood(N/A in 400) and what people don’t know is that lexus is getting a new performance flagship, the LF-A in 2009

Mmmmm… First The IS-F now a LF-A…I LOVE what lexus is doing here!

In the first six months, Lexus sold ONLY 1,230 SC 430s, down more than 40% from a year ago! 40%!!! Thats a huge loss!! Now the ‘08 SC430 is priced around $67k and contains a  288-horsepower 4.3-liter V8 that is rated at 16 mpg/City and 23 mpg/highway. Toyota has also been working on the successor to the SC, and it was planned to hit production in early ‘09, then next-generation SC was pushed back to 2011 and now has been canceled completely, according to Toyota.(Current SC Photo)

With the next-gen Camry already in the works of development, Toyota has also been figuring out whether they should cancel the planned replacement for Avalon, which currently is planned to hit production in 2010. So In its place, Toyota may go for a long-wheelbased Camry for such markets as North America and the Middle East. The redesigned Camry currently is slated to begin production in mid ‘11.(Current in photo)

So in short what are we looking at? Still getting an LF-A, Goobye SC430 and we are gonna see a longer Camry? The Camry to me currently is long enough! When I say longer, I know its getting a longer wheelbase but if you go longer then in the photo above, the body will go longer! Through all the generations of Camry, It seems to me that its a pretty decent size now and they want to go with a longer wheel base? Limo? lol just kidding.

How do you feel about this decision? Is this cause for the gas price hike with everyone dumping the V8 market? Whats you opinion on this?

Well Thats all for the automotive corner right now, it will be back next monday as always and if for some reason I cant get it to you I will notify you all with a post. We here at Flytoyz love our readers and we promise to do what we can do to bring you whats good in the world today!

Stay tuned to flytoyz! thanks for coming by today! I will See you thursday in the mod shop!!

Welcome To The Automotive Corner! Subaru + Toyota = Impreza Coupe!

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Welcome Everybody to VizX’s Automotive Corner, i’ve recently learned of the new Impreza coming from Subaru and all i have to say is wow!! I’ve always really liked what subaru has brought to the public, but they got together with the honcho’s at Toyota and they have brought this idea to us for 2010!

Impreza coupe

“It’s the most stylish Subaru ever! And this striking Impreza coupé will go into production in 2010.

Joining the recently launched hatch-back model, it will allow the Japanese company to tackle the BMW 3-Series Coupé and Nissan 350Z head-on, as well as reach out to new customers.

The car has been developed as part of a joint venture with Subaru owner Toyota – the project will also spawn a long-awaited successor to the Nineties Celica. The Impreza coupé takes styling cues from the five-door model, but gets a rakish rear end. That gives it a chunky yet athletic appearance which stands out from the crowd.

Power will come from a choice of two engines, both employing the flat-four boxer layout for which Subaru is famous. There’s a normally aspirated 2.0-litre unit giving around 180bhp, or a high-performance 2.5-litre turbo powerplant borrowed from the range-topping five-door STi. The latter will deliver in the region of 300bhp.

For the entry-level machine, the Impreza’s four-wheel-drive system will be dropped in favour of a more lightweight and less expensive rear-drive set-up. That will put the emphasis on maximum driving thrills. But the more powerful car will send power to four tyres to harness all that punch.

The newcomer will go on sale first in Japan and the US, and could arrive here in the UK in 2011. In entry-level guise, it’s set to cost around £20,000, with the flagship priced at £25,000.

In a related story, Nissan is working on an affordable rear-wheel-drive coupé to sit below the 350Z. The Silvia replacement will go on sale in 2010.”
