Just Like I Promised! An Update On The Blackberry Thunder With Live Pics!

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Ok everyone, I made a post around two months ago titled New Touchscreen Blackberry Thunder To Arrive As A Verizon Wireless Exclusive” Well, as I promised in that post I would keep you all updated on this new style of blackberry. I Found it on, where else but on Crackberry.com

“The first pics and screenshots we have seen of the BlackBerry Thunder have been awesome, but it’s nice to finally have live hands-on photo evidence that the BlackBerry Thunder is REAL and it’s working (of course, only time will tell for sure just how well!). More details and another photo of the BlackBerry Thunder’s touchscreen after the jump!

Here’s a quick recap of the details we brought you last week on the Thunder’s touchscreen display:

  • Tactile Response - when you press on the Thunder’s screen, it pushes in “just” a little bit (the whole screen is sort of like a big button) and you get immediate “real” feedback – you hear an audible clickety sound, and can feel a buzz in your finger where you actually pressed on the display.
  • Full QWERTY and SureType entry - hold the phone in landscape mode and you can take advantage of a full-qwerty keypad. Use the phone in portrait mode and you can enter data on a SureType keyboard. You will be able to choose/change your screen/keyboard orientation at anytime.
  • Screen is made of glass and will feature multi-touch - the Thunder is said to be utilizing WebKit for it’s browser engine (same as the iPhone), so hopefully that means a solid web browsing experience for the Thunder.

I’m not sure whether these exact keyboard skins will make the Thunder’s final release version of OS 4.7, but from the images you can tell the user-experience RIM is going after here… they want typing on the Thunder to be EASY. That means a lot of screen real estate dedicated to the keyboard, which makes room for big keys that are easy to locate and tap. RIM is famous for the ‘BlackBerry Prayer’ position users assume when typing messages on their devices and it looks like that won’t change with the introduction of the touchscreen Thunder… you should be able to grip the device with both hands and pound out emails with both thumbs blazing.

The images also provide further confirmation that the Thunder’s operating system will still rely heavily on the BlackBerry menu button for key functions and advanced options vs putting all options on the main screen as the iPhone does. I’d assume hitting the menu key while on the Compose Message screens shown in these images should provide the standard BlackBerry menu options such as Send, Copy/Paste, Save Draft, Check Spelling, Attach file, etc.

After using an iPhone 3G for a couple of days, I’ll say this: while it’s pretty, it’s not very efficient at getting stuff done (ahem) lighting-quick. A touchscreen BlackBerry like this may just one-up the iPhone in that department because it’s based on the speedy and efficient BlackBerry OS while also getting the benefits of a gigantic touchscreen for browsing, reading and viewing media.

What do you think, does RIM have another winner on their hands?”

Well here you go! Straight from The crackberry site!! Whats your thoughts? Let us know!

New Touchscreen Blackberry Thunder To Arrive As A Verizon Wireless Exclusive

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

“While yes, the Blackberry Bold is a pretty slick looking update to the hallowed Blackberry line, it still sports a physical keyboard — clearly a quaint remnant of smartphones from a bygone era. What the people want these days are touchscreens, beautiful, difficult to use touchscreens. And that’s just what RIM is going to deliver with the Blackberry Thunder.

The Boy Genius has a bunch of new details on the upcoming touchscreen Blackberry, including the interesting tidbit that it’ll be a lifetime exclusive on Verizon in the US and Vodafone in Europe. It’ll have a mere four physical keys and will run on 3G EV-DO Rev. C as well as GSM HSPA for international use. No word on when this thing is going to drop, or whether or not anyone who uses a Blackberry will allow a physical QWERTY keyboard to be pried from their grip, but we’ll keep you updated.

Oh, and that image above is merely a mockup of what a touchscreen Blackberry might look like, not an actual product rendering.”

What are your thoughts on this new blackberry? I think this is huge for Blackberry being Treo was the main touchscreen smartphone on the market, now with blackberry hitting on this portion of technology, what is Treo gonna do next? Will this small feature pull a few treo customers away to blackberry? We shall see.

Good Morning Everyone And Welcome To VizX’s “The Mod Shop”… Today, we are discussing I.C.E!

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Ok, so I know I bring you that heat on whats good in the world today when it comes to bring you more horse’s under the hood and some more torque to throw you back in ya seat, but Today is different…Meaning today im covering something thats not a motor/trans/suspension/body etc mod.. no no.. sorry to all my fans whom are Wrenches/Gear heads, But today I am bringing you the low down on how to be a baller on a budget(like so many of us are lol). I’m covering something thats in the ICE department( ICE = In Car Entertainment)

It’s not a high end brand but it gets the job done, Ive seen this piece in person and I thought for the price it was mighty impressive to be honest, what am I talking about?

A DVD/HD Radio Headunit with a flip out 7″ Touchscreen! Brought to you by:jensen logo

To all my car audio nutz, we know this name from waaaay back, like rockin a Jensen head unit with Pyle sub woofers in the 1980′s way back, and yes this name is still alive! its not a top contender(hell look at the market, its hard enough to compete) but it’s still a good brand, I myself use to own a Jensen chameleon and for the price, it served me well! And we All know sometimes its about the price when you are on a budget and Ladies and gentlemen for only $399.99 you cant beat it!! (well you probably could but with a high probability of it sucking in the quality dept).

Jensen’s VM9312HD head unit has HD Radio technology that’ll give you flawless radio, ok you see how HDTV looks by chance? now picture that awesome picture in sound form……. yeah its a nice thought huh? :) You’ll hear static free reception from participating stations, and you’ll be able to pick up the extra channels of content broadcast by HD Radio stations as well.. ya cant beat it!

This SINGLE DIN(yes single!!) plays your CDs(normal format/MP3/WMA) and DVDs, and it lets you control everything from the 7″ retractable touchscreen.

HU open

A user friendly interface lets you scan through menus and selections very easily. It also has a secondary 8-character LCD screen that lets you operate this head unit when the screen is not open so if you don’t want people knowing you have this for some reason, tuck the screen in and play on!

HU Closed

Now the little goodies about this too, you can hook you iPod to it and control it via touch screen,it has a rear view camera input and 2 video out puts in-case you have 2 extra screens you want to hook in, as well as a wireless remote :) It is a 13 watts RMS and 40 peak x 4 channels so it does have good enough power to support your in-car speakers.

I tell ya what, i would dump my current H.U for this and i have a nice pioneer cd/mp3/wma player but man, for another 100 bucks you can have this??? I think its a given!! If you like what you see here and are interested on picking this piece up for your car/truck/suv/rv or whatever your rollin in, please see here Crutchfield

Well it was different today not talking about HP and TQ numbers, but this wont be the last report on ICE from me, its a big world and its just beginning!

The latest news in the car world: Automotive corner every monday!

The latest on how to make your car decimate others under the hood or while sitting in the passenger seat, you’ve got The Mod Shop Every thursday!
