Welcome Everybody! This is VizX’s Automotive Corner! Ford + Performance Truck= Lightning Concept???

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Yes you read that correctly, Ford is looking at FINALLY putting a performance truck idea back in the works! Its been, hmm I dont know, 5 years since the last performance truck rolled onto the streets with a blue oval in the grille. When SVT was making it’s return with the SVT Shelby Cobra GT500 there was supposed to be an SVT Adrenalin Sport Trac that had the previous generation cobra’s 4.6 S/C 390HP V8 but married to an AWD transmission. ~>SVTA

BUT sadly this never made it past a concept. Well in spite of plummeting sales of big trucks, a high-performance variant of the new 2009 F-150 should debut later this fall, I would imagine at either SEMA or the L.A Auto Show. Lightning Maybe? Wouldn’t that be nice? To Get The 500+ HP S/C+Super Cooled Lightning we were promise and so badly denied?

Here are some photo’s of the Lightning we were supposed to get back in ‘05:

Now incase your wondering about the part where I mentioned Super cooled. Here is what that means, the SuperCooler cleverly provides a special burst of power for the SVT Lightning concept. Traditional intercoolers dissipate heat from the supercharged air by circulating coolant through a front-mounted, air-cooled radiator. With the SuperCooler system, the vehicle’s air conditioning system is used to chill a small storage tank of coolant to about 30 degrees Fahrenheit.

On demand, the SuperCooler system switches the intercooler flow from its normal circulation and dumps the chilled coolant into the engine’s intercooler. In turn, the intercooler dissipates up to 20 percent more heat from the charge air - resulting in a denser air charge.  A green light on the instrument panel indicates the system’s readiness. SuperCooler is activated automatically when the driver depresses the accelerator to a wide-open-throttle position. This technology plays directly into the hands of the enthusiast, Coletti says. The SuperCooler provides the edge for the driver, and it is done simply by taking advantage of the hardware that already exists in the vehicle.

As a result of this cool technology, the SVT Lighting concept can give its driver as much as 50 transient horsepower for short bursts of 30-45 seconds and regenerate within 2 minutes under normal driving conditions. While its effect is similar to that of an aftermarket nitrous oxide system, the SuperCooler is completely self-contained, environmentally friendly and regenerative.

Now I hope and pray this idea see’s this next performance truck! Now there is also a really good chance that this might be the next generation of Harley Davidson edition truck’s, as we know the HD shared the same motor as the lightning so it wouldn’t surprise me that this is just another HD truck ford is putting out. But im with all the SVT fans out there, GIVE US THE LIGHTNING!

Hello Everyone Welcome To VizX’s Mod Shop! Prepare, to get blown!!

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

“Blown you say?” you might be thinking….well actually yes! In an automotive term of course you freaks haha, c’mon this is the mod shop where I hit you all with some of the best mods you can do to your car/truck/suv. Well when i said blown I meant a blower, and this one is from the one company that can take your beast of a cobra, and make it into a fire breathing whining monster…

oh yes, the famous name of Kenne Bell.. :insert evil laugh here:

2.6L S/C for 03-04 SVTC

Now the blower im talking about today is the Big Bore 2.6L Supercharger(shown above) It can take your stock ‘03-’04 SVT cobra up to 617 RWHP vs. the stock Eaton Supercharger at 366HP, now keep in mind, this is with stock cats, Mass Air-Flow meter, throttle body and injectors from ONLY a Kenne Bell Supercharger Upgrade kit and Cobra Cool Air Kit which is usually good to have anyways.

Now with this blower you can pick your boost, make a quick pulley change and run 8-15 psi on the street with 92 octane to get the power your looking for, but if you want to really up the ante, increase the octane and up your boost up to 26 lbs/boost and reach 656HP!!!

Also keep in mind, this is a supercharger so its just a bolt on replacement to your stock Eaton, it gives you more power, a cooler charge temp, and less power consumption loss then the stock s/c as well! It’s Internally lubricated you need no tapping holes in pan, it doesn’t use engine oil and it gives a nice factory look. If you want to go alittle crazy, KB also has a 2.8L big bore kit, that the same 26LBS/Boost will grant you 4 digits on the dyno!!!

But anyway enough of me yappin with all the technical details and goodies, if your looking to Own the streets and make everyone bow down to you and your cobra, this is how to do it! For more Details please click on this link Kenne-Bell Twin-Screw Superchargers

Oh and if you want, this is my absolute favorite video on you tube, this is an ‘03 Cobra with an older KB blower, titled Blowzilla 2.2L(discontinued) but its just a mere example of what happens when you introduce KB to SVT.

Thanks for coming by The Mod shop today, for all you cobra owners, if your interested in a KB just click the link above to their page and check into becoming the King of your neighborhood, and the Envy of all your friends. If you do buy a KB and record a video of it operating on your cobra like shown in the video above, Let me know, I would love to see it and I just may add it to this posting!

I Am VizX, your go to guy on the best parts for your ride, You! Have Just Been Modded!!

See Ya Monday!
