Want To Get Your Ride Dynoed? Got An iPhone?(evil grin)

Monday, August 4th, 2008

I found this on autoblog, and just wow… Another reason to enjoy your iPhone!

“The world has gone iPhone crazy since Apple released v2.0 of its sleek mobile device, and while GPS and 3G have been big draws, the multitude of available software apps in the new App Store has been the real wild card. One app that has us really psyched is a new automotive performance meter called Dynolicious from BunsenTech. It uses the accelerometer inside the iPhone to let you record 0-10 through 0-100 times, quarter mile and trap speed, Lateral Gs, horsepower and more. Results are also displayed in real-time on the phone itself with graphs and a speedometer. You can also configure the tool with updates to your car, weight, before and after performance measurements, and keep a complete history of all your runs. The kicker is that you don’t even have to plug in your iPhone anywhere, just set it in the cup holder and drive. The folks at Dynolicious promise 0-60 accuracy to within .08 seconds and a quarter mile speed to within 1.5 mph. The performance meter software should also work with the iPod Touch.

The Dynolicious performance meter is now available on iTunes for $12.99 despite its own website saying that it’s coming soon. The app has an average rating of four stars out of five so far with 11 user reviews and counting. We’re going to purchase the software ASAP and take it for a spin, so we’ll let you know soon if it delivers on its lofty promises. Check out more screen shots of Dynolicious in the gallery below. Thanks for the tip, Fooman!”

Whats up Everyone! Welcome To The Mod Shop! Spotlight: Iequus / Innova

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Hello and Welcome Welcome Welcome!(not a insane typo lol) To The Mod Shop, I am VizX, your go to guy on flytoyz for all the hotness in the world today in the automotive department.

Today we are covering as said above a company called:
This is a company that knows what they are doing when it comes to gauges, But we arent covering gauges today, I’m covering a little tool that can give you a very good idea on whats going on with your car/truck/suv. Its called An OBD scanner. Diagnostics are made easy by Innova.

This has been one of the most exciting improvements in the automobile industry. The On Board Diagnostics(OBD),or in more basic terms, is the computer that activates the vehicles Check Engine Light(CEL).

OBD 1 was designed to monitor manufacture-specific systems on vehicles built from ‘81-’95 and later then came the development of OBD 2. The OBD 2 is just a newer version which diagnoses vehicles ‘96 and newer sold in the Unites States.
(OBD1)

Like its predecessor, OBD 2 was adopted as part of a government mandate to lower vehicles emissions. But what makes OBD 2 unique is its universal application for all late model cars and trucks/domestic and import. This program in the vehicles main computer system is designed to detect failures in a range of systems and can be accessed through a universal OBD 2 port which usually is located under the dash. For all OBD systems, if should a problem be found the computer turns on your CEL(photo) to warn the driver and will set the Diagnostic Trouble Code(DTC) to identify where the problem occurred. A special diagnostic tool such as a code reader is required to retrieve these codes, which for all the DIY(do it yourself) people out there and installers alike, use this tool as a starting point for repairs that are hard to find!

(ODB2)

Now prices for the OBD1 range around and below the $50.00 mark, but the OBD2’s prices range between $100.00 and $460.00. For a full product listing of OBD’s please see Here For All their products, not just OBD’s please see Here

Well this is all for the mod shop today, Good luck to all you DIY’ers out there this should really aide you in your repairs. Thanks for coming by today! I Will see you Monday on The Automotive Corner!
